Job Description
The Electrical Apprenticeship at AECI offers a comprehensive programme designed to develop skilled electricians. The apprenticeship includes both theoretical training and practical experience, ensuring participants gain a well-rounded understanding of the electrical trade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete the apprenticeship program, which includes theoretical and practical components.
- Service, repair, and install various electrical equipment.
- Conduct maintenance work, including testing malfunctioning equipment, identifying defects, troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and replacing defective parts.
- Assist with new and upgraded installations of building electrical wiring and AC 3-phase motors.
- Perform miscellaneous legal ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Electrician or Maintenance Team Leader.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Assist with testing and commissioning of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Utilize electrical testing equipment and power tools.
- Ensure accurate and honest reporting of incidents, near misses, and safety hazards.
Qualifications & Experience
To be eligible for the AECI Electrical Apprenticeship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum education: Grade 12 with a post-matric qualification (N3 Electrical).
- Basic awareness of SANS 10142 wiring code.
- Awareness of Merseta apprenticeship requirements.
- Computer literacy.
- Basic awareness of OHSAct.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Deadline-driven.
