The Department of Health is looking for dedicated and qualified individuals to join their team as Professional Nurses. Ideal candidates should have a basic R425 qualification in nursing, be registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), and possess relevant experience depending on the grade level.

    • Grade 1: R307,473 per annum
    • Grade 2: R375,480 per annum
    • Grade 3: R451,533 per annum (Plus a non-pensionable rural allowance of 12% of basic annual salary)

Job Description

The Professional Nurse will be responsible for providing optimal, holistic nursing care, effective control and management of equipment and stock, administrative responsibilities, information management, and participating in training and research. The role also includes providing support to Nursing Services and maintaining professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing or equivalent) that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • Registration: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse.
  • Experience:
  • Grade 1: None required.
  • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • Inherent Requirements: Willing to work shifts and overtime.
  • Competencies:
  • Ability to function/make decisions independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape.

  • Handle administrative responsibilities and information management.
  • Utilize resources effectively.
