Job Description

The Komatsu South Africa Apprenticeship program is a hands-on, immersive learning opportunity designed to equip young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the engineering and manufacturing industries. The apprenticeship will involve:

  • Observing and learning a wide range of technical skills and processes under the guidance of skilled technical staff.
  • Demonstrating the acquired skills progressively throughout the training, eventually performing tasks independently or as part of a team.
  • Completing prescribed apprenticeship modules per merSETA requirements, including theoretical and practical components.
  • Understanding and adhering to health and safety regulations within the workplace.
  • Maintaining and repairing workshop equipment.
  • Keeping a logbook to document the projects undertaken and skills learned during the apprenticeship.
  • Upholding high standards of workplace housekeeping.
  • Displaying professionalism and maintaining a smart appearance.
  • Performing additional tasks relevant to the role as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy).
  • Residence in Namakwa Sands or surrounding areas.
  • Currently unemployed.
  • Passed the following subjects on NQF Level 4:
  • Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
  • Physical Science or Technical Science
  • N3 Diesel Trade Theory and/or N3 Mechanotechnology
  • Engineering Graphic and Design
