Sasol is looking for South African students for its Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year. Job Description:

Sasol Foundation invites South African students to apply for its Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year. Bursaries are awarded in two categories: STEM bursaries for undergraduate studies in fields such as Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Education (STEM subjects), Engineering, Financial Science, Health Science, Mathematical Science, and Technology; and non-STEM bursaries for students from Sasol’s fence line communities, children of Sasol Khanyisa shareholders, and children of Sasol employees. The bursary covers registration fees, tuition fees, book allowance, accommodation allowance, meal allowance, a once-off computer and calculator allowance, and a monthly stipend. Additionally, recipients receive psycho-social support through workshops, student discussions, and the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

Requirements:

STEM Bursary:

  • Must be a South African citizen (by birth only).
  • Must be under 25 years old.
  • Currently in Matric or completed Matric within the past year.
  • Studying or intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in a STEM field.
  • Studying or provisionally accepted to study at a public University or University of Technology in South Africa.
  • For BEng / BSc Eng / BSc students: minimum Level 6 (70%) for Mathematics and Physical Science, and Level 5 (60%) for English.
  • For BEng Tech students: minimum Level 5 (60%) for Mathematics and Physical Science, and Level 5 (60%) for English.
  • Minimum average of 60% for all modules if currently studying.
  • No failed modules in the previous study year.
  • Combined household income of less than R600,000 per annum.

Non-STEM Bursary:

  • Must be a South African citizen (by birth only).
  • Must be under 25 years old.
  • Must be from Sasol’s fence line communities, or a child of a Sasol Khanyisa shareholder or Sasol employee.
  • Currently in Matric or completed Matric within the past year.
  • Studying or intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in any field.
  • Studying or provisionally accepted to study at a public University or University of Technology in South Africa.
  • Minimum average of Level 5 (60%) for all modules registered for.
  • Minimum average of 60% for all modules if currently studying.
  • No failed modules in the previous study year.
  • Combined household income of less than R600,000 per annum.

Duties:

  • Maintain good academic standing throughout the duration of the bursary.
  • Participate in Sasol’s workshops and training programmes.
  • Engage in psycho-social support activities provided by Sasol.
  • Adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the bursary agreement.
  • Report academic progress and any changes in personal or academic status to the Bursary Management team.

Required Documents:

  • Certified copy of ID document.
  • Grade 11 final results, if currently in Matric (certified copy).
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy).
  • Year-end results of the most recent year completed, if currently studying (certified copy).
  • Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance to a University or University of Technology (on institution’s letterhead).

For New Users:

  1. Register on the Sasol Bursaries platform by filling in the required information.
  2. Activate your account via the email you receive.
  3. Verify your email address and create a password.
  4. Log in with your email and password.
  5. Click on “South African Bursary Application” in the top left corner.
  6. Click on “Undergraduate Applications”.
  7. Fill in all the required information.
  8. Read and accept the disclaimer (the white button should turn blue).
  9. Submit your application and await a confirmation email.

For Returning Users:

  • Log in with your previously registered email and password.
  • Continue your application from where you left off.

Forgot Password:

  • Click on “Forgot Password” to receive an email to reset your password.
  • Follow the steps to reset and continue your application.

Additional Information:

  • Only applications submitted via the Sasol Bursary website will be accepted.
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
