Job Description
As a Trainer Driver at Premier, you will be responsible for the assessment and training of drivers within the Milling Division. This includes onboarding new drivers, providing ongoing training to current drivers, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures. You will implement defensive driving techniques, manage driver documentation, and upskill Sales Assistants for the Inland region. Additionally, you will be involved in accident investigations, license updates, and managing traffic fines. Your role is crucial in maintaining high safety standards and ensuring that all drivers are well-prepared for their duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and screen new drivers in the Milling Division.
- Train new and existing drivers in safety procedures and defensive driving.
- Implement driver and vehicle safety procedures.
- Manage driver documentation and ensure timely updates of licenses and Professional Driving Permits (PDPs).
- Conduct accident investigations and provide detailed reports.
- Engage with drivers regarding speeding reports and other safety concerns.
- Upskill Sales Assistants and ensure their certification in driving standards.
- Represent the company in matters related to truck licenses and traffic fines.
Qualification Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of experience in driver training and assessment
- 2 to 3 years of experience with driver and vehicle safety
- Valid code 14 driver’s license and a valid PDP (5 years in possession)
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and report writing
- Experience in accident investigations, employee relations, and disciplinary actions
Skills and Attributes Required:
- Strong conflict management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong administrative abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Team player with a deadline-oriented mindset
- Willingness to work Saturdays if required
- Ability to travel as needed
- Own transport is required
