Job Description

Position Overview:
The Apprentice Level 1 will participate in all aspects of the apprenticeship program, assist in vehicle repairs, and work towards mastering level tests. They will fulfill the MerSETA trade requirements and qualify as a Motor Mechanic within four years.

Specific Role Responsibilities:

Attend scheduled technical/level training courses.
Assist with vehicle repairs under the supervision of a qualified Technician.
Prepare for level tests to qualify within the set timeframe.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace cleanliness.
Adhere to workplace safety and conduct protocols.
Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 12 with Pure Maths and Physical Science (minimum 50% pass mark).
Valid, unendorsed driver’s license.
Clear criminal record.
Mechanical insight and technical skills/experience are advantageous.

Competency in operating manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
Physical fitness for heavy work.
Strong problem-solving and motor vehicle fault-finding skills.
Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination.
Strong English communication and writing skills.
